ISLAMABAD – October 8, 2025: Pakistan’s security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations across multiple provinces following a series of militant attacks and attempted infiltrations. From Sindh to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, coordinated actions by the Pakistan Army, Police, and Rangers have resulted in arrests, recovery of arms, and prevention of major terrorist plots in recent days.

Sindh: Search Operation After Jaffar Express Attack

In Shikarpur, law enforcement agencies conducted a large-scale search operation after the Jaffar Express bombing, arresting more than 20 suspects from different localities.

Security officials confirmed that the explosion was caused by a remote-controlled device carrying around three to four kilograms of explosives. The area has been sealed off as bomb disposal and forensic teams collect evidence, while raids continue to trace the attackers and their facilitators.

In Wana, militants attacked security posts at Kotki Gomal T2 and Kot Azam in the Toi Khulla area. Intense clashes with heavy weapons continued for several hours, with reinforcements dispatched to the area. Separately, in Azam Warsak, Frontier Corps personnel foiled an extortion attempt in Warsak Bazaar, killing one terrorist and injuring two others during an exchange of fire.

Central Kurram

A Lance Naik was martyred and two personnel injured when terrorists opened fire on the Joggy Post in the Ali Sherzai area. Security teams immediately cordoned off the site and launched a search operation to track down the assailants.

Bajaur

In Mamund Tehsil, security forces cleared five more villages — Zara, Oondi, Gaili, Gat, and Zagai — restoring state authority in previously contested areas.

In Gabrai Manro Zangal, troops foiled an infiltration attempt from across the border, killing three terrorists.

Separately, a major terror plot was averted in Bajaur District after ISPR confirmed that explosives planted by Khawarij were safely defused before they could cause mass destruction.
Meanwhile, a grand jirga in Gabri village brought together elders and security officials, reaffirming cooperation to maintain peace and stability in the region.

In Mir Ali, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) that dismantled a major militant network and recovered a significant cache of arms and explosives intended for large-scale attacks in urban areas. Officials said the operation highlights the forces’ continued vigilance in disrupting terrorist activity.

Bannu District

Militants abducted two employees of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Miryan while they were transporting cash for distribution. Another abduction occurred in Musa Khel Zandi Falak Sher Mandai, where two schoolteachers, including Headmaster Rafiullah and Teacher Nisar Ali Shah, were kidnapped.

Police have launched extensive search operations to rescue the victims and arrest the culprits.

In a separate development, tribal elders in Bano Domel, Hathi Khel, and Tawus Khel issued an ultimatum to miscreants, demanding they vacate the area by October 10, warning of coordinated community action thereafter.

Peshawar

In Chamkani, unidentified attackers targeted Abdullah Shakir, son of late cleric Mufti Munir Shakir, as he traveled along Chamakni Armar Road. He narrowly escaped unhurt. Police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.

Balochistan: Rising Tensions and Armed Clashes

In Panjgur’s Balgatar area, a Pakistani Army camp came under siege by a large group of armed men. Heavy gunfire and a series of explosions were reported as clashes continued for nearly three hours. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are engaging the attackers to contain the situation.

Meanwhile, in Mastung Bazaar, armed robbers stormed an Allied Bank branch on Quetta Road, taking staff hostage before escaping with several lakhs in cash. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation and recovery operation.

Nationwide Counterterror Focus

Officials say the recent surge in attacks represents an attempt by militant remnants to destabilize regions where security has been recently restored. However, a series of swift, intelligence-based responses — including the neutralization of explosive caches, clearing of key villages, and community coordination — underscores the state’s continued resolve against terrorism.

Security agencies reaffirm that no area will be left ungoverned, and operations will persist until all militant networks are dismantled and lasting peace is secured across the country.
