CM Punk is once again on top of the wrestling world. The “Best in the World” defeated Jey Uso in the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event to win the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship, sealing victory with his signature Go to Sleep (GTS) finisher.

The title match came about following an unexpected twist in WWE’s world title scene. Originally, Punk had earned a championship opportunity against Seth Rollins by defeating Jey Uso and LA Knight in a Triple Threat match on Raw (October 13). However, Rollins suffered a legitimate shoulder injury during his Crown Jewel clash with Cody Rhodes, leaving him medically disqualified.

Days later, chaos erupted when Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed shockingly attacked Rollins, dismantling The Vision. Under orders from WWE General Manager Adam Pearce, Rollins was stripped of the title due to the severity of his injury and the need for surgery — sidelining him for several months.

A high-stakes Battle Royal was held on Raw to decide Punk’s opponent for the vacant title. Jey Uso emerged victorious, setting up a highly anticipated encounter between two former world champions.

Uso, who previously dethroned Gunther at WrestleMania 41 to claim his first world championship, sought to reclaim the gold. Punk, however, was determined to redeem his heartbreak from SummerSlam, when Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase moments after Punk had beaten Gunther for the same title.

In a gripping main event, Punk overcame Uso’s resilience and emotion-fueled offense to secure his seventh world championship in WWE, reigniting his legacy and sending the fans into a frenzy.

With Rollins recovering and Breakker and Reed rising as new threats, the world title picture in WWE has never looked more volatile — or more exciting.
