Pakistan has expressed strong displeasure over the Norwegian Ambassador’s attendance at the Supreme Court hearing in the ongoing case of Imaan Mazari, issuing a demarche in response.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this action is tantamount to overstepping diplomatic boundaries and constitutes direct interference in Pakistan’s internal judicial matters. This conduct is a blatant violation of Article 41 of the Vienna Convention 1961, which obliges diplomats to respect the laws of the host country and refrain from interfering in its internal affairs. If an ambassador from any country is present in a sensitive and ongoing case of this nature, it creates the impression of influencing the judicial process, which is considered a serious breach of diplomatic responsibilities and international laws.
Certain Norwegian NGOs are active under the guise of human rights and provide support and backing to elements in Pakistan engaged in anti-Pakistan activities.
Through the demarche, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made it clear that Pakistan reserves the right to take every possible measure to safeguard its sovereignty and will not tolerate any external interference. This action demonstrates that Pakistan is a free, sovereign, and law-abiding state that adeptly protects its sovereignty and judicial processes in accordance with global diplomatic principles.
