North Korea ‘licks’ Trump, claims US

North Korea reported that US President Donald Trump’s statement that he received a “nice letter” from the country’s leader, Kim Jong-un, was unfounded.
A statement from the North Korean Foreign Ministry stated that no letters were sent, as Trump explained.
The statement noted that the US President would share an “unfounded” story with the media, while emphasizing that relations between the two countries should not be misused “for selfish purposes”.
Yesterday, addressing press conference of the Covid-19 Task Force in the White House, Trump claimed that he received a “beautiful letter” from North Korean leader Kim.
Trump stated that they worked well with North Korea and stated that if the president was not elected, the USA would go to war with North Korea.
During a phone conversation with President Moon Jae-in of South Korea, Mr. Trump also said he had received a “warm letter” from the North Korean leader, Mr. Moon’s aides told reporters on Sunday. But later Sunday, the North’s Foreign Ministry said, “There was no letter addressed recently to the U.S. president by the supreme leadership” of the North.
Last month, North Korea revealed and the White House later confirmed that Trump had sent a letter to Kim expressing his willingness to help the North battle the coronavirus. North Korea has taken vigorous steps against the pandemic, and claims it has not had a single case of Covid-19.
North Korea has repeatedly said there has not been a single case of the coronavirus on its soil. Some foreign experts have questioned that claim and said an outbreak in North Korea could cause a humanitarian disaster because of its poor medical infrastructure.
Notably, relations between Pyongyang and Washington have cooled since the leaders’ second summit meeting, in Vietnam in February 2019, collapsed over differences regarding how quickly North Korea should dismantle its nuclear weapons program and when Washington should ease sanctions against the North.
