A sparking telephonic conversation between two supreme leaders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Russia took place just after the oil prices spiraled in the global market last month.
It is reported that the call between Suadi Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman, and the Russian President, Vladimir Putin degenerated into a shouting match and ended on a harsh note.
According to the Middle East Eye, the call was preceded by the OPEC meeting on 6 March, where major oil-producers failed to reach a deal to cut oil production despite falling global demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the telephone conversation between MBS and Putin, Mohammed bin Salman’s behavior was very aggressive, and he threatened to start a price war on oil if the deal was not reached.
The Saudi official told the news agency on condition of anonymity that the talks between the two leaders were personal, they were screaming at each other, the Russian president refused to accept Prince Salman’s conditions and the call ended badly.
Before making the call to Putin, Mohammed bin Salman contacted Jared Kushner, his confidante from the White House. Kushner who is Donald Trump’s son-in-law and his senior adviser did not ask MBS to make the call but he knew all about it and did not veto it.
After MBS’s meeting with Jared Kushner, the oil prices crashed in the OPEC+ Summit in which Russia and other countries failed to agree on proposed cuts of 1.5m barrels a day.

The collapsing oil price was initially hailed by Trump, who initially presented it as an opportunity to fill up the US’s own reserves with cheap oil. But the White House subsequently reversed course after protests from US oil producers, many of whom have invested in more costly shale oil extraction and require significantly higher prices in order to break even.
However, according to the Saudi news agency (WAS), the two leaders held the talks in April in a bid to stabilize prices in the oil market. Reviewing the efforts made, it emphasized the importance that the stay in oil prices is essential for the development of the global economy.
They discussed the role of the two countries, calling for cooperation between oil-producing countries and maintaining understanding.
Earlier, Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz had telephonic contact with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin reviewing the efforts made in the light of the telephonic communications and OPEC + Summit, it was also discussed to promote cooperation between the oil-producing countries in order to maintain the stability of the global economy.
