Lahore, 13th, May: On one hand, the country is going through the corona crisis and on the other hand, the construction work of Diamer Bhasha Dam has been started.
According to reports, an agreement has been signed for the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam, in a situation where the pandemic has paralyzed the whole world and a poor country like Pakistan has also been affected by it.
The commencement of construction work with Rs 442 billion is being highly appreciated, mostly domestic and foreign. Observers are calling it a better strategy for Prime Minister Imran Khan and giving him credit for it.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Water Resources, a contract worth Rs 442 billion was awarded to a joint venture between Power China and FWO. The agreement was signed by Amir Bashir, Chief Executive Officer of Bhasha Dam, and was also signed by a representative of the Chinese company on behalf of Power China.
PM directs to begin construction work of Diamer-Basha Dam
Addressing the contract award ceremony of Diamer Bhasha Dam, the Federal Minister for Water Resources said that today is a big day in the history of the country as such a big project started five decades later. A new chapter of Pak-China friendly relations has begun. Thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Water Resources and WAPDA, we have reached here today.
Faisal Wawda further said that according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, water resources will be protected, this project will generate 4500 MW of cheap electricity.
Diamer Bhasha Dam will settle 1.2 million acres of land. The Federal Minister for Water Resources hopes that we will complete the Diamer-Bhasha Dam ahead of time, ensuring early completion of water resources projects for the development of Pakistan.
