Lahore, 29th May: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar has dedicated his helicopter for the locust eradication campaign.
According to a report of Baaghi TV, CM Punjab, Usman Buzdar has issued orders to conduct surveillance for locust in affected districts of Punjab.
A meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar in which measures taken to control locusts were reviewed.
Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Information, DGPDMA, and concerned officials attended the meeting.

Department of Agriculture and PDMA has issued instructions to the officials to use helicopters. Buzdar has ordered the concerned departments and agencies to be on 24-hour alert to protect the crops from locusts.
As per CM’s orders preparations should be made for possible locust attacks in June and July. An Anti-locust squad has been deployed in the field.

The Punjab government has provided resources of one billion rupees to eradicate locusts and to save the crops. According to Usman Buzdar, every possible step should be taken to stop the abnormal spread of locust.

Aerial spraying is also being done with the help of the federal government. Continuous steps should be taken to control locust through a comprehensive line of action.
Usman Buzdar had visited Rajanpur and Bhakkar to assess the situation himself, more than 300,000 acres have been sprayed so far.
Effective monitoring of locust is underway in 17 affected districts. Anti-locust Squad vehicles are spraying in the affected areas.
According to Buzdar, the people especially the farmers should be kept informed about the government measures.

It is ordered to control the spread of locust, surveillance should be done on a daily basis, and reports should be submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office.
