11th June: Vietnam has banned all flights to and from China during the pandemic crisis.

According to a Baaghi TV report, Vietnam on Saturday declared a public health emergency over the coronavirus epidemic and said it would suspend all flights to and from China.

The Vietnamese government has said it will also stop issuing visas to foreign visitors who have been in China for the past two weeks.

But Taiwan’s foreign ministry later said in a statement that it had spoken to the Vietnamese government and lifted the ban on flights to the island.

China Airlines, Taiwan’s largest carrier, also said flights had returned to normal after being forced to cancel service to Hanoi on Saturday.

COVID-19: US virus cases exceed two million

The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that the carrier is still in operation. Flights to Taiwan can be operated, but flights to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau are still suspended.

Taiwan is a major investor in Vietnam, which has invested $ 32 billion over the past three decades.

Taiwan is also angry that Italy has canceled China Airlines’ flights between Taipei and Rome as part of Italy’s ban on flights from China, although China Airlines on Monday refused to take back stranded passengers.

How did Vietnam control the spread of coronavirus?

From 1 February 2020 Vietnam had exercised strict control on flights started from those coming from/going to China.

On 16 March 2020, Vietnam airlines threatened to permanently ban passengers who hid their disease status.

On 21 and 22 March 2020, Vietnam banned all foreigners and overseas citizens to enter the country.

On 27 March 2020, Vietnam banned big gatherings and reduced domestic flights.

On 31 March 2020, Vietnam went into social distancing for 15 days.

Government rejects claims of COVID-19 app being risky

From 31 March to 22 April, public transport including buses, taxis were not allowed within the city and inter-city.

On 24 April 2020, social distancing requirements started loosening up in Vietnam.

Vietnam, as of today (11 June) has 332 cases and 320 of them have been recovered with no deaths so far.

 

Vietnam has successfully battled the disease within the country and has decided to suspend all flights to/from China.
