Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Information Adviser Ajmal Wazir has announced that the Ghulam Khan border with Afghanistan in North Waziristan has been reopened from today.

According to the details of Baaghi TV, the two-way freight traffic will continue 24 hours a day, six days a week.

In a statement, he said that the Pak-Afghan border has been opened to continue trade activities in difficult circumstances due to the coronavirus.

He said that trade between the two countries was linked to the employment of millions of people not only in Pakistan but also in Afghanistan. Furthermore, he said that one day of the week would be reserved for pedestrians for whom SOPs would be implemented.

Talking about the coronavirus situation in the province, he said that so far more than 124,000 people have been tested for corona in KPK. Moreover, 6,536 corona-infected patients have recovered in the province.

Ajmal Wazir said that 3,416 diagnostic tests have been done in the last 24 hours. The highest number of more than 65,000 corona tests have been done so far in the Public Health Laboratory of Khyber Medical University.

He said that corona patients are being treated in 241 hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where more than 5,500 beds are available for them, while the number of oxygen-equipped beds is 1,375.

He said that 343 ventilators have been allocated for corona patients out of which only 77 coronavirus patients are present. While, 805 patients are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals in the province.
