Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the world is beginning to understand that India has become a threat to the stability of the region.
Pakistan does not want any conflict but is fully capable of responding to any aggression and defending itself.
He said this while addressing an emergency video meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Kashmir on the growing Indian aggression in occupied Kashmir. The meeting was convened at the request of Pakistan and was chaired by OIC Secretary General Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Uthaymeen.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the struggle for fundamental rights of Kashmiris, especially under the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was being suppressed by the brutal use of force. By declaring and accusing Pakistan of infiltrating across the LOC, it is trying to hide the truth by defaming Pakistan.
He said that India had escalated ceasefire violations along the LOC and Working Boundary for its nefarious purposes. The Foreign Minister warned the international community that India should divert the world’s attention from its state terrorism and unacceptable actions in occupied Kashmir. It may take action based on false accusations or any other adventure, which is likely to endanger regional peace and security.
Briefing reporters after the OIC video link meeting on Kashmir, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the Contact Group had demanded India to immediately end the siege of Occupied Kashmir and all the measures imposed in the region.
The OIC Contact Group agreed to set up an observer mission to assess the situation in Occupied Kashmir and expressed deep concern over ceasefire violations along the LOC.
The Foreign Minister said that the situation in Occupied Kashmir was deteriorating rapidly. The authorities were trying to suppress the Kashmiris’ independence movement, large-scale extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris were going on and the media was being banned.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said that many Kashmiri people have lost their sight due to shrapnel guns fired by the Indian occupying administration. India is avenging its defeat at the hands of China in Ladakh from the Kashmiri people.
