Lahore, Aug 7: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately address the problems of 12,000 taxpayers who have paid Rs 2.6 billion in taxes under the tax amnesty scheme, but could not upload details of their assets on the last day due to a glitch in the FBR’s online system.

In a statement, Lahore Chamber President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar and Vice President Mian Zahid Javed Ahmed said that many members of the Lahore Chamber have informed that on the last day of the tax amnesty scheme, the Federal Board of Revenue could not upload details of their assets due to problems with the online system.

Officials of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said that 12,000 taxpayers paid a hefty amount of Rs 2.6 billion in taxes. It should solve this problem immediately. The federal tax ombudsman has also decided to provide facilities to the taxpayers in this regard.

Lahore Chamber officials said that the business community had to bear the brunt of the crisis, yet it helped the economy meet its challenges, so the Federal Board of Revenue should co-operate fully with it.
