BEIJING: China has imposed sanctions on eleven United States (US) key figures, including US senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
According to international media reports, tensions between China and the US have risen further. China has imposed sanctions on 11 Americans, including two senators, in response to US sanctions on several high-ranking officials and Chinese nationals, including the Hong Kong chief executive (CEO), for allegedly taking away political freedom.
A statement from China stated that US senators and individuals who have been banned have made inappropriate and irresponsible statements regarding their national security bill in Hong Kong. However, the nature of the ban on American figures was not disclosed.

China has imposed sanctions on 11 US citizens, including lawmakers, including members of nonprofits and rights groups.
