More heavy rains expected in Karachi, risk of urban flooding

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain with thunderstorm is expected in different districts of Balochistan on Sunday and Monday. While Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin and Mirpur Khas will also be at risk of urban flooding due to rains on Sunday and Monday.

The Meteorological Department said that the areas of Lower Sindh could be inundated again due to rains, due to which all concerned agencies have been asked to remain alert.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in Karachi on Sunday and Monday, while heavy rains are not expected in Karachi today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of rain on Sunday and Monday is expected to be less than the rain on Thursday.

The Meteorological Department said that according to the 10-year record of monsoon rains in Karachi, there has been 218 percent more rains than usual in recent years and more rains are expected.

The highest rainfall was recorded in 2020, the 10-year figure is from July to August, while the monsoon from July 1 to August 27 this year has received 218% more rain than usual.

According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon rains were below normal for six years after 2010 and 2011, while 2019 and 2020 were the rainy seasons.

The Meteorological Department added that more rains are expected in the current monsoon.
