Govt to envisages strategy to respond opposition criticism in joint session

Islamabad September 2 (Online): The federal cabinet on Wednesday envisaged a strategy to respond to opposition criticism in the next week joint session. The cabinet also reviewed the country’s overall political and economic situation.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmoob Qureshi, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood, Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar, Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar and other members cabinet were in attendance. PM Advisor for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan briefed the cabinet about the government strategy for the next week joint session.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, during the meeting, made it clear that the government instead of getting feared from the opposition criticism will keep focus on the pending legislations with the support of its allies.
Imran Khan was informed that the government has thin majority in the Senate and it needs opposition support for the approval of pending bills. Responding, PM directed Speaker NA to contact the opposition leader and brief him about the importance of bills for the country and seek opposition support.
