Pakistanis with NORI (No Obligation Return to India) visas, hoping for repatriation to India temporarily delayed as schedules changed.

Approximately 363 Pakistanis with NORI visas will now return to India on September 15th, instead of September 7th. Due to the corona virus and the closure of the Pak-India border, 37 Indian nationals residing within Pakistan will also return to India.

In this regard, the Foreign Ministry has written a letter to the Interior Ministry to open the Wagah border exclusively. The Interior Ministry also sent a letter to DG Rangers Punjab.

NORI visa holders are predominantly Pakistani citizens residing in India on long-term visas but, have not yet been granted Indian citizenship. The Indian government issues these visas for such persons to return to Pakistan.

Most of the NORI visa holders belong to the Hindu community. There are also some Muslim women who got married in India. They returned to Pakistan in March to visit their relatives.
