PIA all set for IATA Operational Safety Audit

The operational safety audit was previously conducted by PIA in 2018. The team had a busy day on Monday and took a detailed tour of the airport’s ramp area where aircrafts are parked, unloaded or loaded. The team stayed at the ramp for more than two hours, inspecting the loading and unloading process, as well as checked emails containing various registers and records.

On Wednesday, the audit team inspected the ground handling and technical ramp. The experts inspected the PIA’s engineering department on Thursday, which continued until Friday. Sources said that the team had its own manual with which they were comparing the standards of the airlines. The experts concluded their visit with a meeting with PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Malik.

IOSA to conduct complete audit of PIA for aviation safety

It may be recalled that before the visit of the IATA team, Air Marshal (retd) Malik had inspected the operational installations. The heads of engineering, ramp service and flight safety departments were briefed regarding the safety audit visit.

It may be recalled that before the arrival of the global audit team, unusable aircraft and equipment were removed from the ramp area of the airport as part of preparations so that the vacant space could be used for parking and repair work of the aircrafts. The PIA chief expressed satisfaction over the preparations and directed the staff to work harder.
