Prominent religious scholar Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi died of a heart attack at the age of 76.

According to close associates, Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi was shifted to a private hospital last night, where he passed away. The body of late Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi will be shifted to Ancholi Imambargah in Karachi.

Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi was born on March 24, 1944 in Lucknow, India. He was a Pakistani scholar, religious leader, orator and Urdu poet. His father’s name was Syed Zaheer Hassan Naqvi while his mother’s name was Syeda Mohsina Zaheer Naqvi. At birth he was named Zaheer.

He migrated to Pakistan in 1967 and settled in Karachi. Academically, he matriculated from Hussainabad School in Lucknow and completed Intermediate from Government Jubilee College, Lucknow.

He graduated from Shia College, Lucknow. He also wrote a number of books including Miri Anis, History of Lamentations, Life and Poetry, Mirza Dabir, Life and Poetry, Lamentations of Josh Malihabadi, Poets of Urdu and Ishq Ali, Urdu Lamentations in Pakistan (1982), Famous Families of Miranis Poets, Effects of Karbala on Urdu Literature, Dabstan Naskh, Tazkira Poets of Lucknow, Iqbal’s Philosophy of Love, Hindi Poets of Hindi Poetry, Ibn Safi’s Novel Writing, Poets of Mustafaabad, Mir Anis (Poet of Every Century), Use of Colors in Mir Anis’s Poetry, Miranis as a Veterinarian, Antiquities (two volumes), The Study of Elegies Mir Anis and Urdu poetry and Karbala. His valuable contribution in Urdu literature will always be remembered.
