Baaghi TV: Electricity load shedding could not be reduced due to non-supply of gas to K Electric in Shehr-e-Quaid. There is a gap of 400 MW between the demand and supply of electricity.

Sui Southern Gas started a series of load shedding due to reduction in gas supply to K Electric which continues today. Even in areas exempted from load shedding, there is a six-hour load shedding. Power supply has been suspended for 10 hours in line loss areas in Karachi.

Other areas including North Karachi, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Buffer Zone and Liaquatabad are experiencing intermittent long load shedding while FB Area, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal are most affected by load shedding.

Electricity load shedding is also going on in industrial areas of Karachi while 6 to 12 hours load shedding is being carried out in residential areas.

According to Sui Southern Gas officials, a total of 100 mmcfd of gas has been cut, affecting the supply of gas to private power plants as well.

A spokesman for K Electric said that K Electric was facing a shortfall in gas supply from SSGC and the shortage was affecting power generation capacity.

Due to shortage of gas supply, temporary load management is going on in some areas and there is a reduction in power generation due to a decrease in gas pressure.

Under gas load management, CNG stations across Sindh were shut down yesterday due to disruption of gas supply. However, CNG stations across Sindh have reopened after gas supply.
