A sudden rise in temperature in Canada kills dozens #Baaghi

June 30, 2021:  At least 134 people lost their lives due to unpredictable heat wave for three consecutive days. Most of those who died from confinement and suffocation were old and sick.

Western Canada broke a 126-year record for heat, Vancouver is one of Canada’s coldest regions and that’s why people didn’t have air conditioners in their homes. Mercury reaches 49.5 degrees Celsius for the first time.

According to Al Jazeera, police in western Canada say the scorching heat has killed dozens of people “suddenly” as the province of British Columbia closes schools due to record temperatures, melting glaciers and issuing flood warnings. People are urged to stay indoors. In a statement Tuesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, said it had received “more than 25 sudden death calls” in a 24-hour period Monday.

While investigations into the deaths are ongoing, the police force said the majority of them are believed to have identified the heat as a “significant factor”. Burnaby RCMP spokesman Mike Callaghan said, “Meet your neighbors, meet family members, take special care of the elderly. “We see that this season can be deadly for vulnerable members of our community, especially the elderly and those with basic health problems. It is important that we see each other during this intense heat.”

On the other hand, according to meteorologists, the temperature had started rising from Friday and the temperature is likely to rise for several more days.
