A group of hackers running ransomware demanded 70 million in cryptocurrency in exchange for opening ransomware-infected computer systems.

The demand surfaced on Sunday in the Dark Web, allegedly on a Russian-owned website, the Evil Gang.

Hundreds of computer systems of private companies and government agencies around the world were attacked by ransomware on Friday, according to details.

Ransomware is a type of software that allows hackers to take over a computer system and then demand ransom in exchange for unlocking it.

The attack also targeted the computer system of Cassia, a software company based in Miami, USA. According to the company, the attack was carried out very closely.

Cassia said in a statement that the company has a “tool” available to its users to check if their computers were affected by the ransomware attack. ۔ The company says it will bring all its data back online by the end of Monday.

The FBI says the R-Evil gang was the group that carried out ransomware attacks on JBS, the world’s largest meat processing group, in late May this year.

On Saturday, US President Joe Biden, referring to his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin last month, said the United States would hold Russia responsible if it was involved in the attack.

“If Russia was aware of this attack or if it caused it, I have told Putin that we will respond,” he told reporters.
