Aerostan Boeing 747 Returns To Karachi After Fuel Dump

An Aerostan Boeing 747-251B(SF) cargo aircraft registration EX-47002 flight BSC757 returned to Karachi after experiencing a technical problem. According to details, the Kyrgyzstan-based charter operator Aerostan’s Boeing 747 departed from Karachi at 03:45 PM local time (10:45 UTC) and returned to Karachi after approximately one hour.  After taking off from Karachi just a short while ago was circling and dumping fuel on the outskirts of the city over the ocean, later descended back towards the airport. However, the aircraft did not land immediately. The Aerostan cargo aircraft landed back at the Karachi airport after a reported flight time of 1 hour and 2 minutes. As the aircraft’s takeoff weight is much higher than the landing weight due to the fuel being carried, the 747 first had to dump fuel which means that the aircraft continued to fly over the Arabian sea and the city of Karachi for nearly 1 hour and 2 minutes after requesting permission to land to reduce the fuel onboard. Once it had burned enough fuel to prevent a hard landing or structural damage, the 747 landed at the Jinnah International Airport, nearly an hour after taking off.
