Afghan Ministry of Borders Ensures Security Along Durand Line, Borders

The Afghan Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities stated that the security of the borders with neighboring countries and the Durand Line with Pakistan is ensured.

The officials of this ministry, during the presentation of their annual report, said that any challenges that have arisen along the Durand Line and the borders with neighboring countries have been addressed promptly.

Mohammad Ismail Ghaznavi, Deputy Minister for Border Affairs at the Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities, said: “The security of the Durand Line and the official borders with neighboring countries is fully ensured and is under the review of the Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities as well as various other bodies.”

The Deputy Minister for Jirgas and the Coordination of Tribal Affairs stated that the rate of ethnic disputes in the country has dropped to nearly zero and that over eight hundred major and minor ethnic conflicts were resolved last year.

Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad added that after the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, ethnic disputes, coercion, and oppression in the country have ended. He further emphasized their efforts to fully implement Islamic Sharia in the country.

Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad, Deputy Minister for Jirgas and Coordination of Tribal Affairs at the Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities, added: “Last year, in the provinces, districts, and remote areas, a total of 304 major and 525 minor ethnic conflicts and hostilities were resolved, which had resulted in the deaths and injuries of about a hundred people.”

Officials from this ministry also reported that in the past year, they identified seven hundred local challenges and shared them with the relevant authorities. As a result of these efforts, four hundred projects were approved by competent authorities.

They emphasized that in the past year, they have organized 34 public gatherings, three extraordinary assemblies, and six provincial meetings under the theme of strengthening the Islamic system and ensuring national unity.

Mohammad Ismail Ghaznavi said: “The people have shared 700 environmental issues with the ministry’s officials, relevant departments, and the Prime Minister’s Office for resolution, of which 400 projects in various sectors have been approved, while the rest are still under consideration.”

Gul Zarin Kochi, Director General of Nomad Affairs at the Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities, stated: “This ministry has taken serious measures for the human and livestock sector of the nomads and has resolved 70 percent of their 45-year-old problems.”

According to the ministry’s information, more than seven hundred people are currently engaged in education at eleven of its educational centers, and nearly seven hundred students have graduated from these schools.

They also mentioned that the Directorate of Ports has been added to the organizational structure of the ministry to provide facilities for migrants and travelers at the ports and has ensured the necessary coordination with border agencies.
