Afghan Peace Talks: Pakistan will stand with Afghan people, PM

According to a report by Baaghi TV, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will participate in the Afghan peace talks in Doha, the capital of Qatar, today via video conference.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will address a ceremony of dialogue between Afghan factions. On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan has played an important role in facilitating the Afghan peace process through tireless efforts.
Welcoming the start of the intra-Afghan talks, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that with joint efforts, the day that the Afghan people have been waiting for has arrived. For 40 years, the Afghan people have been suffering from conflict and bloodshed.
Pakistan suffered casualties in the war on terror. From day one, my position was that there was no military solution to the Afghan problem. The only solution was negotiations and a political settlement.
Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that the success of the Afghan reconciliation process is essential for peace in the region. It is hoped that the parties will abide by their commitments and remain steadfast in achieving the desired results.
Pakistan will stand with the Afghan people in the journey of peace and development. Today we are satisfied to fulfill our responsibility. It is the responsibility of Afghan leaders to seize this historic opportunity and work together for a positive political settlement.
It should be noted that the first meeting of Afghan peace talks will be held in Qatar today. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah is the head of the Kabul administration while Justice Maulvi Abdul Hakim Haqqani is the head of the Taliban delegation.
US Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo will attend the opening ceremony of the Afghan peace talks, which include the US-Taliban agreement and the US. Afghanistan is starting as a result of the joint declaration. The agreement and declaration were reached in February.
