Islamabad: Afghan Taliban delegation will visit Pakistan, Foreign Office spokesman confirms.

According to reports, a statement issued by Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that a delegation of Afghan Taliban will visit Pakistan at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.

A delegation from the Afghan Taliban’s political office, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, is arriving in Islamabad. The special Afghan Taliban delegation visiting Pakistan will discuss advancing the Afghan reconciliation process. According to sources, the Afghan Taliban delegation was invited by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban has also confirmed that a high-level delegation from their political office in Doha has left for Pakistan for talks. Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen confirmed the visit in a statement released on the social networking site Twitter that Mullah Baradar would lead the delegation to Pakistan at the invitation of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

He wrote in a tweet that the officials of the Islamic Emirate regularly visit other countries of the world as part of the political strategy of the organization to present their views on the peace process.
