Afrobeats star Davido to give fan donations to orphanages

Nigeria: Afrobeats star Davido wishes to donate 250m Nigerian Naira ($608,000; £450,000) to orphanages after fans sent him money for the task.

Earlier this week, Davido had  asked his fans to send money to a bank account he detailed under his name and in exchange he will give them a hit song. He confessed later on that he had asked for money from his fans in a playful manner but to his surprise, his fans gave alot of money, which he was not expecting.

In order to thank his fans, he announced how their precious money will be put to use.

The money was being given to orphanages, which also included a personal contribution from Davido of N50m.

Davido is undoubtedly one of Africa’s biggest music stars. He has won MTV and BET music awards and has collaborated with international artists including Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj. In his Twitter post, Davido said his aim was to raise money to get his Rolls-Royce car cleared from a port, he also added laughing emojis in the post.

He then shared bank account details and screenshots as the amount it contained continued to grow over a couple of days.
