All universities to reopen across the country

Tuesday, June 30th: The government has decided to open all the universities across the country in the first phase after Eid-ul-Adha on August 3, 2020. After that, it will be decided to open high and higher secondary schools based on the situation.
Consideration has been given to reopening the universities from July, and the government has formally informed the HEC.
According to sources, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood directed the HEC to take all the universities on board in connection with the reopening of the institute on July 15 and formulate a policy by mutual consent. After that, Chairman HEC, Dr. Tariq Banuri presided over the meeting with the Vice Chancellors of the national universities on video link.
According to sources, the federal government has decided in principle that the universities will not be closed any more. The HEC will work out its own policy with the universities. During the meeting, the HEC chairman sought recommendations from the universities. Universities will be reopened, sources said, adding that the teaching process in the universities will resume after Eid, but the campuses will be reopened after July 15, after which security measures, disinfection spray and other arrangements will be made to prevent coronavirus.
Testing drills will also be conducted from July 15. However, regular classes are likely to start from August 3 after Eid.
