Another alliance will come on the front in the upcoming assembly elections in the state. There is now an electoral alliance between the Peace Party and the National Olma Council. Its formal announcement will be made on Tuesday 21 September in a press conference called in Lucknow hotel.
In the 2012 assembly elections, four MLAs of Peace Party were elected, in which party’s national president Dr. Ayub from Khalilabad, Anisur Rahman from Kanth, Kamal Yusuf from Dumariaganj, and Akhilesh Singh from Rae Bareli won the election. Later, angry with the national leadership, Akhilesh Singh, Kamal Yusuf, and Anisur Rahman left the Peace Party. The Peace Party was founded in October 2008 by Dr. Ayyub.
In this sequence, the National OLMA Council was also formed in the year 2008 itself. After that, in 2012, the council had contested about 120 seats and in some of the seats, its candidates came at number two. In the 2017 elections, the council supported the BSP. The National President of the Council, Maulana Amir Rashadi, said in an informal conversation with ‘Hindustan’ that this time to get the minorities, the downtrodden and the oppressed to be represented in the Legislative Assembly, not to defeat the BJP together with the Peace Party.
