Allies’ huddle today to discuss interim setup
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for a meeting with allied parties today to discuss the appointment of a caretaker prime minister and interim setup.
The meeting, which will be held via video link, aims to consult with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance members on the caretaker government.
PDM and JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders will also participate virtually in the huddle.
The main agenda is to finalize the name of the interim prime minister and address the issue of forming an interim administration.
On Thursday, the prime minister announced his decision to dissolve the National Assembly on August 9, three days before its constitutional term ends on August 12.
According to the constitution, if the assembly is dissolved, elections must be held within 90 days; otherwise, if it completes its term, elections should be held within 60 days.
