American actress jailed for offering bribe for admission
American actress Felicity Huffman jailed for two weeks over paying bribe for the admission of her daughter in American university, on Friday.
The 58-year-old actress is said to be the first parent who has been sentenced over cheating in getting the children enrolled.
She was accused of paying $15000 to improve her daughter’s entrance test marks of SAT.
During the hearing of Oscar nominee actress, judge remarked that it was need of hour to alarm parents that they can’t use wealth and cheat deserving students.
The actress confessed that she was embarrassed on her act especially when her daughter asked , “Why didn’t you trust me?”
She was fined $30,000 and 250 hours of community service.
The actress hoped for the society, students, parents and her family to forgive her for what she did. She also accepted judge’s decision of sentence.
