American Airlines, SriLankan Airlines Reinstate Codeshares

SriLankan Airlines has reinstated its codeshare agreement with American Airlines, the airline announced Monday. The deal that came about last month is expected to offer travelers improved connectivity and travel options in North America and Europe.

“This strategic partnership would allow the placement of the SriLankan Airlines code on American Airlines flights to the United States (US) cities of Miami and New York through the airline’s European points in London and Paris; Dallas-Fort Worth through the airline’s Paris and Frankfurt hubs; and Los Angeles and Chicago through the airline’s hub in London,” the airline said in a press release.

Of these US cities, Dallas-Fort Worth is a new addition to the SriLankan Airlines route network. Existing codeshare agreements with Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways have provided airline passengers with flight options to the rest of the cities via Doha and Abu Dhabi, respectively, so far, it said.

SriLankan Airlines has announced that its codeshare agreement with American Airlines is back. The partnership will cover eight routes between Europe and the US. The airline’s “UL” code will be found on the following American Airlines routes:

  • Miami (MIA) to London (LHR)
  • Miami (MIA) to Paris (CDG)
  • New York (JFK) to London (LHR)
  • New York (JFK) to Paris (CDG)
  • Dallas (DFW) to Paris (CDG)
  • Dallas (DFW) to Frankfurt (FRA)
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to London (LHR)
