Nov 17, 2021: An explosion in the underground line of the National Oil Refinery, 6 people were burnt.

A fire broke out in the underground line of National Oil Refinery near Mehran Town in Korangi Industrial Area after a horrific explosion while 6 people including a security guard were burnt in the blaze.

A fire broke out in the underground line of National Oil Refinery near Mehran Town Sector 15 Yellow School Shaitan Chowk in Korangi Industrial Area after a horrific explosion.

Upon the report of fire, ambulances of Chhepa Foundation rushed to the spot and with the help of residents rescued 6 persons and shifted them to the hospital. Upon receiving the report of fire, area police, fire brigade and Rangers also reached the spot.

According to a spokesman for the fire brigade, the fire was brought under control after an hour-long struggle with the help of two fire tenders from KMC and a fire tender from the National Oil Refinery.

According to eyewitnesses, at about 3 o’clock in the night, a spark started excavating through Saul and a loud explosion and fire broke out.

The injured were identified as 30-year-old Azizullah son of Amanullah, 38-year-old Shafiullah son of Alam Kan, 45-year-old Magar Khan son of Umar Gul and 30-year-old Tufail son.

Earlier, a coal mine in Dakki district of Balochistan had exploded due to filling of poisonous gas. Due to the explosion in the mine, the road was blocked and 4 miners were trapped inside. According to rescue sources, 3 miners trapped inside the mine were rescued while 1 is still trapped in the mine for which rescue operation is underway. The evacuated miners have been shifted to the hospital where they are receiving medical treatment.
