The blast that shattered windows of nearby shops and buildings took place on Thursday (today) at the Paan Mandi in Lahore’s famous Anarkali market left at least three people dead and 26 others injured.

According to the details, the administration of Lahore has released a list of those killed and injured in the blast. Lahore police spokesperson said that a bomb was “planted” in a motorcycle but did not provide further details.

Motorcycles at the scene caught fire after the blast which was heard far away, shattering the windows of nearby shops and banks.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Omar Sher Chatha took notice of the cylinder explosion near Anarkali’s Paan Mandi and instructed the security forces to provide immediate medical facilities to those injured in the cylinder explosion.

He also directed the concerned Assistant Commissioner and Rescue 1122 to reach the spot immediately and initiate an investigation in the matter. He added that Rescue 1122 provides immediate medical aid to the injured.

According to a private TV channel, the blast near Pan Mandi was carried out by a time device. Forensic sources were quoted as saying that it was being determined how much explosives were used in the blast.

The Punjab Chief Minister (CM) took notice of the alleged cylinder blast in Anarkali and sought a report from the Inspector General of Police. CM Usman Buzdar directed that the best medical facilities be provided to the injured. He added that the incident should be investigated and a report submitted.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz tweeted on the social networking site Twitter that the blast at Anarkali Bazaar, which was crowded and the busiest area, was a very sad and disturbing incident. Three people, including a child, were killed and dozens were injured. May Allah have mercy on all of them, their families, and Pakistan.
