ISLAMABAD: A new 147 cases of dengue fever were reported in the federal capital over the past 24-hour period on Sunday, according to media reports, and six people have died as a result of the ongoing trend.

According to health department authorities, 88 new cases were reported in rural areas, while 59 new cases were detected in Islamabad’s urban areas of the city.

The 147 new cases today bring the total number of new cases in Islamabad this season to 1,948, according to sources. They are divided into two groups: 1,249 from rural areas and 699 from urban areas. Separately, 142 new cases of mosquito-borne dengue illness were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) yesterday.

At least 142 people have been diagnosed with dengue today, according to the health department’s Dengue Response Unit. According to the health authorities, five people have died in the province as a result of breakbone fever caused by the mosquito-borne illness.

In Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, and Islamabad, an alarming increase in dengue fever cases have sounded the alarm.
