Another JCP member asks CJ to amend judges selection body

A Judicial Commission of Pakistan JCP member advocate Akhtar Hussain urged CJP Banial for amendments to the judicial commission rules.

He urged the top judge for introducing amendments to the JCP within four weeks as the commission had become paramount.

Hussain said that the audio recording and minutes of the July 28 meeting of the JCP should not have to release in the first place.

He regretted the news of personal differences among the members of JCP. He termed the differences a matter of concern.

The member said it was the responsibility of the CJP Banial to allay the reservations of all the members of the JCP.

After reading the letters of Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Sardar Tariq, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, and Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali, he said that the commission’s meeting should not have to conclude on the request of minority members before all members took into confidence while deciding any matter.

Pertinent to note that Supreme Court on July 29 released the audio recording of the JCP meeting convened to elevate five judges to the apex court, but the meeting was ended without elevating any judges as Justice Tariq Masood, Justice Isa, the law minister and the AGP rejected the appointment of four judges as recommended by CJP Bandial.
