The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that another powerful monsoon wave is likely to strike Balochistan from August 10 onwards.
PMD officials revealed that the upcoming wave is the fourth spell of monsoon downpours in Pakistan, and it is highly likely that Balochistan would start witnessing torrential showers starting from August 10.
On the other hand, Commissioner Awaran Daud Khilji said that relief activities have been intensified in the district. Meanwhile, secretaries and other top government officials have also visited the district to review the progress.
The herders of the area have called on the administration to launch a special drive to prevent diseases in animals.
It should be noted that Balochistan has not yet recovered from the devastation which was caused by relentless torrential rainfall last month. The low-lying districts of Balochistan were struck by flash floods, resulting in the death of many. Moreover, the damage caused by the floods to peoples’ properties is unprecedented.
