According to Baaghi TV reports, NEPRA has issued a notification to increase the price of electricity.
According to the notification, electricity has been made expensive by Rs. 6 per unit. Electricity became more expensive in October-November due to fuel price adjustment. Applicable only on January bills.
PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb while condemning the increase in electricity prices said that Shehbaz Sharif was arrested because electricity was to be expensive. Cases of treason were made to divert attention from expensive electricity.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has rejected the increase in electricity prices. PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari has said in response that the elite representative government has dropped another power on the poor people. Rising petrol and sugar prices have brought financial benefits to PTI supporters.
In a meeting on December 30th, Prime Minister Imran Khan, while expressing satisfaction over the reforms in the energy sector, directed that relief to domestic consumers and uninterrupted and affordable power supply to industries should be at the forefront of priorities.
