Anti-Corruption launches inquiry into Rawalpindi Ring Road Scandal
Lahore, 24th May: Anti-Corruption Department has started its inquiry into the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) scandal after instructions from Punjab Chief Minister. According to reports, soon the facts will be unveiled before the nation regarding the RRR scandal. As per reports, the anti-corruption watchdog has initiated its inquiry on the instructions of Punjab CM Usman Buzdar. A team has been formed in this regard by DG Anti-Corruption Punjab Muhammad Gohar Nafees. A spokesperson from Anti-Corruption Punjab said that the team consists of legal, technical and economic experts, after investigation the facts will be brought before the nation. It may be recalled that large-scale irregularities were revealed in the Rawalpindi Ring Road Inquiry. The inquiry stated that former Commissioner Muhammad Mahmood made illegal changes in the direction of Ring Road. Muhammad Mahmood, former LEC Wasim Tabish, former officer Abdullah were also found involved in irregularities. Sources said that the three authorized officers overstepped their authority and misappropriated funds. The irregularities in Ring Road were aimed at benefiting the Rental Syndicate.
