Anurag Kashyap, a renowned Bollywood director and filmmaker, recently made a shocking announcement on his Twitter account.

Anurag Kashyap wrote, “When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats you know that no one wants to talk .There isn’t going to be reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India & hope you all thrive.”

“Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as i leave twitter. When i won’t be allowed to speak my mind without fear then i would rather not speak at all. Goodbye,” he added.

Kashyap is among the most vocal celebs of the industry and is known for his upright and bold opinions. Earlier this month, he, along with 49 celebrities, wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi, expressing their concerns over the growing of lynching cases in India.

The letter said, “The lynching of Muslims, Dalits and other minorities must be stopped immediately. We were shocked to learn from the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) that there have been no less than 840 instances of atrocities against Dalits in the year 2016, and a definite decline in the percentage of convictions.”

Recently, the filmmaker commented on the government’s decision to abolish Article 370 and 35-A, which gives a special status to Jammu & Kashmir.

In another tweet he wrote, “You know what is scary, that one man thinks that he knows exactly what’s the right thing to do for the benefit of 1,200,000,000 people and has the access to the power to execute it.”

Anurag Kashyap is one of the directors of the popular Netflix series Sacred Games, starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddique.
