Army Deployed to Azad Kashmir in Light of Elections

Army called to Azad Kashmir on a major order – ensuring safe, impartial and transparent elections on July 25. 

Muzaffarabad: According to reports, Azad Kashmir called for the aid of the Army and Police Forces to ensure the upcoming elections will go smoothly and in a fair manner.

Reports from Muzaffarabad state that on the request of the Home Department of Azad Kashmir, the Ministry of Home Affairs sent a summary to the Federal Cabinet for appointment of 40,000 personnel in the elections, which was approved by the Circular Summary late at night.

According to the notification, 4,000 Frontier constables, 2,000 Pakistan Rangers personnel, 19,000 Pakistan Army Youth, 4,000 KP Police Personnel, Punjab Police 6 zars, 1,000 Federal Police Personnel, and 4,000 Punjab Constables will be active during the elections.

These security forces will be performing their duties under Election Commission Azad Kashmir, with the constables from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Frontier and the Federal Police acting under the Government of Azad Kashmir.

The Pakistan Army troops will remain on standby to deal with any emergency situations and 1600 personnel of Pakistan Rangers will be deployed at the most sensitive of polling stations.
