The Federal Government has directed the caretaker governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab to conduct a crackdown against former Federal Minister and PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf) leader, Murad Saeed.

According to a The Nation report, the federal government has directed the caretaker governments to crack down on and arrest the PTI leader. Earlier, the administration of the Sukkur Central Jail refused to release Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI leader, despite his protective bail. At the time, the administration cited that the leader was wanted by the Punjab police in different cases.

According to The Nation, the Lahore police took custody of the leader shortly after a Bhakkar court granted bail, in a case related to opening fire on a police checkpoint. It is worth mentioning that Gandapur, who has previously served as a Federal Minister during PTI’s tenure in government, was arrested from the vicinity of the Peshawar High Court’s D.I. Khan bench earlier this month.

A case had been registered against him at Islamabad’s Golra police station under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, on April 8.
