In what might end the longstanding deadlock between the participating nations, the 2025 Asia Cup schedule is all set for an imminent release, with less than two months remaining for the continental competition to begin. There were a series of controversies but all have been ended.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the schedule might be announced within the next one to two days, if not on Saturday, July 26, itself.
The full schedule and programme are expected to be released in phases, on Saturday, July 26 and then the remainder might follow on Monday, unless it is unveiled in one go over the weekend.
According to previous reports, the Asia Cup is all set to take place from September 10 to Sunday, September 28, although the dates may not be final. Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates might be confirmed as the host cities. BCCI, the designated host of the Asia Cup, is working on the final draft of the schedule.
There may be minor adjustments, but the overall window is all set to remain unchanged, spanning the second and third weeks of September.
After the Dhaka meeting on Thursday, the matter was left to BCCI. They had informed Asian Cricket Council members that some pending matters with commercial partners needed to be resolved before the Asia Cup could be finalised.
The announcement is now expected to come from BCCI via the official Asian Cricket Council platform.
According to previous reports, there will be eight teams, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, UAE and Oman, with about 19 matches, with the final on the last Sunday of September.
India and Pakistan are expected to be placed in the same group, setting the stage for up to three high-stakes encounters between the arch-rivals, first in the league stage, then in the Super 4s and once more in the final.
