According to Baaghi TV, unidentified persons opened fire on the house of Jamaat-e-Islami leader and Sindh Assembly member Syed Abdul Rashid in Lyari area of Karachi.
The accused opened fire on the door of the house and fled. On information, a police contingent reached the spot. MPA Abdul Rashid said that no casualties were reported as a result of the firing.
Police say two bullet casings were found outside the house. Unidentified assailants fired in the air or at home, can not say anything. Abdul Rashid’s room is close to where the shooting took place. Police arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
MPA Syed Abdul Rashid says such cowardly attacks cannot stop the people of Lyari from serving. I am on the road all day. Those who attack the house are cowards.
After the incident, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and Deputy Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Rashid Qureshi visited the house of Syed Abdul Rashid, condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of those involved.
Leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi strongly condemned the incident and said that the house of Syed Abdul Rashid Bhai, MPA of Jamaat-e-Islami from Lyari was attacked. They said, “Praise be to Allaah that he was safe, including his family. For the past several days, he has been present among the people in his constituency in an aggressive manner regarding local government issues. May Allah protect them from any harm. Police should arrest the accused involved in the incident.”
The leaders further said that MPA strongly condemned the attack and firing on Syed Abdul Rashid’s house. The government should ensure the safety of Syed Abdul Rashid. The attack on an elected member of the provincial assembly and a political leader is a government failure. Those involved in this incident should be arrested immediately.
