According to Baaghi TV reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep regret over the senseless killing of journalist Athar Matin and strongly condemned the incident. PM Khan has directed that every possible effort be made to bring the accused to justice.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the killing of senior journalist Athar Matin in Karachi and said that the brutal killing of Athar Matin during the robbery incident is shocking. Hopefully, the culprits involved in the incident will be apprehended soon.

Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani has said that the killers of journalist Athar Matin will be arrested soon. Saeed Ghani added that the police are investigating the incident and would try to reach the accused by tracing their motorcycle, I assure full cooperation from Sindh Government. We are talking to SSP Central and DIG, it is the responsibility of the police to prevent such incidents. There is no zero crime anywhere in the big cities. Athar Matin Sahib was a very brave man. When he saw the dacoits robbing the citizen, he hit the dacoit’s motorcycle, which caused them to shoot him panic. A deadly bullet hit Athar Matin in the head while three bullets hit him yesterday that resulted in his death. The Sindh government is trying its best to catch the killers.

Earlier, a private TV journalist was killed in broad daylight in Karachi. The incident took place in the Nazimabad area of ​​Karachi, where Athar Matin, a producer belonging to private TV Samaa TV, was also shot dead. According to reports, Athar Matin has died of gunshot wounds. Police arrived at the scene and confirmed that the incident took place on the main highway of Nazimabad. Athar Matin hit the motorcycle to save a citizen. At the same time, an accused opened fire. Athar Matin, who was riding in the car after being shot, died on the spot as the accused fled the scene.

Police claimed that, according to the preliminary investigation, the incident was resistance to robbery. However, nothing final can be said. In addition, the police said that journalist Athar Matin was returning home after dropping his children off at school when he was shot dead. A 30-bore pistol shell was found at the scene.

It is pertinent to note that Athar Matin was associated with the private TV channel Samaa and was performing his duties as a producer. He was the brother of renowned newscaster and anchor, Tariq Matin.

Faizullah Khan, a journalist from Karachi, said that Athar Matin was swallowed up by uncontrollable street crime. According to Samaa TV, Athar Bhai saw the motorcyclists robbing a civilian so he tried to knock them down with his car, when the robbers opened fire and Athar Bhai was killed. The Samaa TV added, a wonderful man [Athar Matin] was killed on the road helplessly.

According to Baaghi TV reports, CM Sindh said that the killers should be arrested immediately. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has expressed regret over the killing of Athar Matin in Karachi. Sheikh Rashid has sought a report of the incident from the Chief Secretary and IG Sindh. He said that the killing of a senior journalist by dacoits is a senseless incident.

Special Assistant Chief Minister Punjab Hassan Khawar has condemned the killing of the senior journalist and producer of Samaa News in Karachi. Hassan Khawar has expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family and said that Athar Matin was a dutiful journalist and that he is deeply saddened over the murder. Sindh government should ensure the arrest of Athar Matin’s killers as the protection of journalists is a priority of the government.

In addition, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed regret over the killing of the senior producer of Samaa News. Buzdar has expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family and said that he was deeply saddened by the tragic death of Athar Matin. All our sympathies are with the family. Senator Faisal Javed Khan said that he was deeply saddened to hear the news of the murder of Athar Matin, brother of anchor Tariq Matin and senior producer of Samaa TV. May Allah forgive him and grant patience to his family and relatives – Ameen. The Sindh government should immediately arrest the killers and punish them.
