Attack on Balochistan Coal Mine Leaves 20 Dead, Including Afghans

In an attack by unknown armed individuals on a coal mine in the Duki area of Balochistan, twenty people, including three Afghans, were killed, and seven others, including four Afghans, were injured.

The Associated Press reported that the attack took place early this morning (Friday, October 11) using hand grenades and rockets.

According to the report, the attackers set fire to all the mining equipment before leaving the scene.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Associated Press wrote that Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, condemned the attack and stated that he would eradicate terrorism in the country.

The Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) reported that since the beginning of this year, 1,534 people have been killed in security incidents in Pakistan, compared to 1,523 in 2023.

The center added that 97 percent of these incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
