Aung San Suu’s party demands for her release

2nd February 2021, Aung San Suu Kyi’s party demand her release as Myanmar’s generals tighten their grip.  Baaghi TV: The party of Myanmar’s detained elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi called for her immediate release on Tuesday. According to reports, the party has also asked the people to recognise her victory in November elections, a day after a military coup sparked widespread outrage. As per reports, on Monday the United States had threatened to reimpose sanctions on Myanmar’s generals after they seized power and arrested Suu Kyi with dozens of her allies in raids. After her arrest, the whereabouts of the Noble Peace laureate remained unknown more than 24 hours and her only communication was in the form of a statement written in anticipation of the coup calling for protests against military dictatorship. As per reports, the coup followed a landslide win for Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD) in Nov 8 elections, the result of which has been refused by the military citing unsubstantiated allegations of fraud.
