LOS ANGELES: The cause of death of the former child actor, Austin Majors, has been revealed to be fentanyl toxicity by the Coroner’s office. Majors died on February, 11 at the age of twenty-seven. 

According to the USA Today reports, the former child star who is most renowned for his appearance on various episodes of the crime series NYPD Blue (1993-2005), died of fentanyl toxicity in February. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office confirmed the cause of death on its website, ruling it as “accidental”.

As a child, the young actor appeared in several television series including Providence (1999-2002), ER (1994-2009), According to Jim (2001-2009), NCIS (2003- ongoing), Desperate Housewives (2004-2012), How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014), and others. Most famous for his portrayal of Theo Sipowicz in NYPD Blue, Majors received the Young Artists Award for best performance in a television series. He also earned a nomination for his voiceover work in the sci-fi animation Treasure Planet (2002).

In a statement published by TMZ, the actor’s family said that he was a “loving, artistic, brilliant, and kind human being”. 

The statement further read: “Austin took great joy and pride in his acting career”.

According to the statement published by TMZ, Major’s sister Kali shared her fondest memories to be “growing up on set with him, volunteering at events with ‘Kids With a Cause,’ and backpacking together”.
