According to Baaghi TV reports, CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh has been transferred and this is the first major transfer of the new year.
Why was CCPO Lahore transferred and why was it needed? We bring you the facts to light.
After the appointment of Omar Sheikh as CCPO in Lahore, he had started accountability in the police department. Although the officers opposed him, he persevered and remanded several SHOs.
According to sources, many officers did not like this accountability and they were constantly lobbying against CCPO Lahore but they failed.
After the deployment of CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh, who has been transferred today, an operation was launched against the Occupy Mafia in Lahore.
PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah has also spoken in this regard. Captain R Safdar, the husband of Maryam Nawaz, has had a bitter argument with the CCPO but the CCPO had shown perseverance.
As soon as the new year began, the notification of transfer of CCPO Lahore was issued on January 1. Reportedly, IG Punjab was transferred due to CCPO Omar Sheikh.
It is also said that Omar Sheikh was not promoted in the last Central Selection Board. It was found that due to this reason differences arose between Omar Sheikh and Shoaib Dastgir. After that, Shoaib Dastagir protested against the appointment of Omar Sheikh as CCPO Lahore. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar removed Shoaib Dastgir from his post over the protest.
According to Baaghi TV sources, Omar Sheikh was transferred due to his interview in which he quoted that ‘the court grants bail to the accused’. The court also took notice of this interview.
Referring to CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh, the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court had also remarked that nothing has changed in three months, robberies and thefts are happening in the city in the same way.
Following these remarks of Chief Justice Lahore High Court Muhammad Qasim Khan, Punjab Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat had sought the performance report of the CCPO, after which he was removed from office today.
CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh’s performance report was published. According to the released report from August 2019 to November 2020, it stated that 168 accused led by CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh were arrested. 17 notorious accused were also arrested and cases were registered against 90 occupation groups.
The CCPO wrote a letter to the police for court-martial. Similarly, SHO was suspended on the patronage of corrupt officials.
IG Punjab agreed to bring court-martial system in Punjab Police for punishment and retribution. The CCPO handcuffed and suspended the sub-inspector for poor investigation.
