Oct 29, 2021: Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Mir Abdul Qaddoos Bizenjo will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Balochistan today (Friday) at 4 pm at the Governor House Quetta.
Governor Syed Zahoor Agha will take oath from Bizenjo, who was elected unopposed as the Chief Minister of Balochistan. The development comes a day after Bizenjo won the support of PTI parliamentary leader Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind, who announced that he was withdrawing from the race and supporting Bizenjo for the Chief Minister’s post.
Apart from Rind, no other candidate in the provincial assembly had filed nomination papers against Bizenjo. Bizenjo said that we will move forward in consultation with all and will benefit from the experience of whoever remains the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister-designate Bizenjo said in a statement that he wanted to work with other leaders in the province. He said that he has also tried to contact former Chief Minister Jam Kamal. Bizenjo said he would announce his government’s future policy at tomorrow’s assembly session.
After the resignation of Mir Jam Kamal Khan Aliani as the Chief Minister, the BAP nominated Bizenjo for the top post. In the province, the PTI’s parliamentary party nominated Rind for the post. Bizenjo needed to get 33 votes. After getting a majority of votes, the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly will announce Hasil Bizenjo as the new Chief Minister of the province.
Earlier, Senate Chairman Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjarani and Defense Minister Pervez Khan Khattak had reached Quetta on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan to resolve the issue.
