Banning the hijab violates religious freedom: United States #Baaghi

Washington: The United States (US) has declared the ban on hijab a violation of religious freedom. According to details, voices against the hijab ban in Indian educational institutions have begun to rise in the world.

While many celebrities have spoken out against the intimidation and harassment of Muslim girls and women for wearing the hijab by Hindu extremists, the United States has strongly condemned the recent ban.

Rashad Hussain, a senior official with the American Institute for Religious Freedom, said in a statement on the social networking site Twitter that prohibiting the wearing of the hijab in educational institutions by the Indian state of Karnataka is in violation of an individual’s religious freedom. According to Hussain, “Religious freedom includes the ability to choose one’s religious attire”.

He added that banning the hijab is tantamount to killing religious freedom. According to Hussain, forcing women and girls to choose clothes is going to “stigmatize and marginalize” them further. “The Indian state of Karnataka should not determine [the] permissibility of religious clothing”, he added.
