Biden warns Russia of ‘severe costs’ over Ukraine invasion
The United States President (U.S.), Joe Biden warned Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia about ‘severe costs’ Russia will pay in case he starts Ukraine invasion, on Friday. Joe Biden also stated that Russia will face sanctions and an increased presence of the U.S. in Europe.
According to the reports, the U.S. and Russian Leaders exchanged a set of warnings over Ukraine in a 50-minute call on Thursday to address Russian military actions.
“I made clear to President Putin that if he makes anymore moves, if he goes into Ukraine, we will have severe sanctions. We will increase our presence in Europe, with our NATO allies, and there will be a heavy price to pay for it,” U.S. President, Joe Biden told reporters as he left a Wilmington, Delaware, restaurant.

He also said that Putin agreed on ‘three major conferences’ next month with senior staff to draw resolutions and is optimistic about the result of those negotiations. “I made it clear that it could only work if he de-escalated,” Biden added.
“I am not going to negotiate here in public but we made it clear that he cannot – emphasize cannot – move on Ukraine,” the U.S. Preident answered when a reporter questioned if Moscow kept its troops on the border.

A White House official informed the media earlier on Friday that Joe Biden will also speak to the Ukranian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, on Sunday.
The purpose of the call would be to reaffirm support for Ukraine, discuss Russia’s military buildup and review preparations for diplomatic efforts to bring peace and calm to the region.
The Biden-Putin exchange set the stage for lower-level engagement between the countries that includes the U.S.-Russia security meeting in January, followed by the Russia-NATO session in the same month and a broader conference including Moscow, Washington and other European countries, also in the same month.
